Problem: Within the Northeastern brand, there are many “sub-brands” that have their own specific set of requirements (i.e. logos, colors, typography, messaging). The main University marketing department is responsible for the oversight and guidance of each Northeastern sub-brand. The team originally communicated these guidelines via Figma prototype links. As a result, there were a lot of mistakes made within the documents, and users were having trouble navigating vital information.
Solution: Soon after the development of our University digital design system and Wordpress framework, I suggested that we develop a (relatively) quick brand toolkit template utilizing our new system. The template would include instructions for the brand voice, look & feel, resources, and a link to our digital asset system as well as a link to submitting a brand review. Every page would also feature a pre-footer with a link to the main brand site.
As a result, marketing departments throughout the University will have a single source of truth with information and guidance catered to their sub-brand.
